What is a nut on a hydraulic cylinder?

(1) Connection and fixing function

Connecting parts: The nut is an important component that connects the various parts of the hydraulic cylinder. It can tightly connect the cylinder barrel and the cylinder head together, ensuring that the hydraulic cylinder forms a closed working space, so that the hydraulic oil can build up pressure in it and push the piston to reciprocate.

Fixing the piston and the piston rod: In the hydraulic cylinder, the nut is used to fix the piston on the piston rod. This connection method must ensure that the relative position between the piston and the piston rod is fixed, ensuring that the power output of the hydraulic cylinder is stable and reliable.

(2) Sealing and anti-leakage function

During the installation process, the pre-tightening force generated by tightening the nut can prevent the hydraulic oil from leaking from the joint surfaces between the cylinder barrel and the cylinder head, the piston and the cylinder barrel, etc. And maintain a certain amount of compression to ensure the stability of the sealing performance and extend the service life of the hydraulic cylinder.

How do you tighten a hydraulic nut?

(1) Preparation

Clean the threads and nuts: Before installation, make sure that the threads and nuts are clean and free of impurities, oil and rust.

Check the nuts and bolts: Confirm that the size, pitch and other parameters of the nuts and bolts match, and the threads are not damaged.

Prepare tools and equipment: Prepare hydraulic pumps, hydraulic lines, pressure gauges and other equipment, and ensure that they work properly.

(2) Tightening steps

Install the hydraulic nut: screw the hydraulic nut into the bolt to ensure that the nut and the bolt fit well.

Connect the hydraulic system: connect the oil filling hose of the hydraulic pump to the oil filling port of the hydraulic nut. Ensure that the hydraulic system is well sealed and leak-free.

Exhaust operation: open the exhaust port of the hydraulic nut, slowly pressurize, and exhaust the air in the nut. When the hydraulic oil flows out of the exhaust port, close the exhaust port.

Pressure tightening: slowly increase the hydraulic pressure to move the piston or pressure ring in the hydraulic nut to generate preload.

Lock the nut: after reaching the preload pressure, use a wrench to tighten the hydraulic nut to ensure that the nut and the bolt fit tightly. Release the hydraulic pressure and check whether the nut is loose.
